An adventure psychological horror game

Try to Wake Up: The Legend of Trevis is a single-player adventure and psychological horror game that marries surreal atmospheres with mind-bending puzzles. While it’s part horror, part puzzle, it leans heavily into psychological themes that play on the very concept of consciousness, dreams, and what it means to truly “wake up.”

Try to Wake Up: The Legend of Trevis centers on Trevis, a character trapped in a purgatorial world of dreams, or nightmares, where he must navigate through various stages of his psyche to escape. With each layer of the dream more twisted and complex than the last, it pulls the player into a progressively darker narrative.

Look into anomalies as you fall into a deep sleep

Try to Wake Up: The Legend of Trevis main strength is its innovative use of puzzles that rely heavily on environmental interaction and manipulation of Trevis’s “dream state.” These puzzles are challenging and often require lateral thinking, as the solution is rarely obvious and sometimes plays on the distorted logic of dreams. For example, objects might appear and disappear depending on where Trevis is looking or what sequence he completes.

This mechanic adds a layer of complexity to the gameplay, forcing players to adapt and question their surroundings constantly. The mechanics also delve into psychological horror, presenting puzzles that seem deceptively simple although become disturbing the longer the player engages with them. In one memorable instance, the solution to a puzzle requires the player to re-live traumatic memories that shape Trevis’s character.

The difficulty of these puzzles can occasionally spike, leading to moments of frustration, especially if players are not keen observers. These moments are balanced by a satisfying sense of accomplishment when solutions are finally reached. However, once the core story and puzzles are completed, the game offers limited reasons to return, as the plot and puzzle solutions remain the same.

A must-try walking simulator game

Try to Wake Up: The Legend of Trevis is a masterclass in psychological horror, blending elements of mystery, puzzles, and a haunting storyline that grips you until the end. The game has created an engaging world that feels equal parts haunting and mesmerizing, making it a must-play for horror enthusiasts looking to lose themselves in a dream they might never want to wake up from.
